TO BE CALLED LAIBACH by Lilijana Stepančič

In this new pamphlet, Slovene author, curator and artist Lilijana Stepančič explores the informal and controversial banning of the name 'Laibach' (German for Ljubljana) in the city. The history of the name - of the most famous Slovene band - engages with ideas of censorship and desire, asking how we are motivated by transgression and prohibition. It also raises questions of propagandistic and even fascist symbolism, as well as the artistic and ironic play with these symbols - questions that we continue to grapple with as an appositional society today.
